Procedure

    1) Patients who are interested for removing their glasses are properly counselled by the chief eye surgeon, Dr. Bariana herself.

    2) Routine eye checkup which includes refraction, intra ocular pressure, slit lamp examination, dry eye test, dilated retina examination, pachymetery for corneal thickness, corneal topography on OPD scan-3.

    3) Detailed disease & drug history is taken to rule out any systemic disease.

    4) Contraindications for refractive surgery .

          (a) Patients who are immunocompromised & with systemic conditions such as SLE,                      fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases, uncontrolled diabetes.

          (b) Severe dry eyes, glaucoma, past eye infection from ocular herpes, retinal detachment.

          (c) Pregnancy & lactating mothers.

          (d) Thin cornea.

          (e) Unstable refraction.

    5) Patient is called for refractive surgery on appointment basis.

    6) Topical anaesthetic drops like paracaine are instilled in the eye to make it numb.

    7) A thin corneal flap is made with nasal hinge and rest of the corneal tissue is subjected to laser rays which are fired from precalibrated Lasik machine.

    8) During Lasik surgery the patient is advised to fixate his/her eyes on light.

    9) A special tracker installed in the machine tracks the eye movements during laser treatment.

    10) After laser treatment corneal flap is reposted back.

    11) Antibiotic, steroids, lubricating eye drops are advised for one month.
